James: In the tiebreaker of the first round of 2018, I told the Pacers players that I would play the whole game. The other players were shocked.

Today, Lakers forward James' basketball podcast "Court Brain" aired the latest episode of its third season.

James: "I remember it was - God, I don't remember exactly when it was, anyway, it was when we played against the Pacers in 2018. I think it was Thaddeus Young, it should be about 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter. Right, I have played for 43 minutes, and I plan to play for 48 minutes. When he was preparing to serve out of bounds, he asked me, "You want to play for the whole game?" I said, "I want to play for the whole game." I looked at him, and that's what he meant. ‘WTF (what the hell)?’ He just kept saying, ‘I won’t feel tired. I want to play the whole game.’

Note: According to verification, the Cavaliers v in the first round of the 2018 Eastern Conference playoffs. In the Pacers' tiebreaker, the live broadcast in the third quarter actually showed the scene of James saying "I want to play the whole game", but the on-site commentator said at the time that James said this to Darren Collison. In the end, due to cramps at the end of the third quarter, James left the game and returned to the locker room for treatment. James did not play the entire game. He actually played 43.4 minutes. However, in the tiebreaker of the 2018 Eastern Conference Finals, James did play the full 48 minutes. In G4 of the 2023 Western Conference Finals, James also played nearly the entire game, with only 5 seconds of rest.
