Brothers Bass: We wish we could ask our father what he would think about all this

According to Shams, the Lakers are reorganizing their basketball operations department and have relieved brothers Joey Buss and Jesse Buss of their positions in the team's management.

Brothers Joey and Jesse Buss issued a statement: "We are very honored to be a part of this team for the past 20 seasons. We thank the Lakers fans for their support and acceptance of our family along the way. How we wish our fate with the team could end in a different way."

" At a time like this, how we wish we could ask our father how he would feel about all this."

Jerry Buss bought the Los Angeles Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke for $67.5 million in 1979. After his death in 2013, the management rights of the team were transferred to his children.

Mark Walter previously purchased a majority stake in the Lakers for 10 billion. The Buss family will continue to retain part of the equity. Jenny Buss will continue to serve as the representative of the Lakers board of directors for at least five years.
