World Sports: Player representative AFE recommends that the game interval be included in the rules of La Liga and Spanish Second Division

According to "Shiyi", the issue of rest time for La Liga players continues to attract attention. Albacete player Marshan Vidal, representing AFE, suggested that the 72-hour interval between the game be included in the rules of the A and B leagues.

According to La Liga regulations, the team should have at least 72 hours of rest time after one game to the beginning of the next game, but this regulation is not always adhered to in actual operations, mainly due to the complexity of the schedule.

To ensure that this condition is met in most cases, the Association of Football Players of Spain (AFE) proposes to La Liga to establish a joint committee to monitor and ensure as much as possible between every two matches, so that players can get enough rest between the A or B league games.

It is worth noting that FIFA does not have specific regulations on the intervals of the match, but only a recommendation from the International Federation of Professional Football Players (FIFPRO) that a complete game can cause extreme muscle fatigue, which may last 72 hours. The same document also mentions that if the recovery time between matches is less than 72 hours, the chances of the team losing will increase.

As early as 2023, FIFA discussed establishing a new working group to focus on player welfare issues, including the issue of at least 72 hours of rest, but no formal agreement has been reached so far.

This issue was mentioned again at a meeting of the Spanish Football Association this summer. Albacete player Marshan Vidal spoke for AFE and suggested that this break be included in the rules of the A and B leagues. While he admits that it is difficult to achieve at times, it can at least show intentions and leave room for adjustment for the club. However, due to the lack of a basis for enforcement, the proposal ultimately failed.
